The Fontenay is situated on the shores of the picture-perfect Lake Alster in Hamburg, a waterfront city considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe. The hotel capitalizes on the urban greenery of the city, which architect Jan Störmer used to create ’hotel in the park’. This luxury hotel has 113 luxurious rooms and 17 suites allotted on five floors, and most of them feature stunning lake views. The rooms and suites are stylishly designed by Berlin-based interior designer Christian Meinert, who went for natural shades of blues, turquoise, green onyx and beige in painting. The oak wood floors are decorated with rugs from The House of Tai Ping with original paintings on the walls. All the rooms have a walk-in closet, seating area, parquet flooring, safe, minibar, air condition, work desk, sofa. The bathrooms have a walk-in shower, bathtub, and vanity heat flooring.
Spa & Wellness:
The Fontenay Spa occupies a 1000 square-meters area and it is located on the sixth floor, overlooking the beautiful Alster Lake and the city of Hamburg. The spa features a 20m indoor and outdoor lap pool, rooftop terrace with sun chairs and a panorama sauna and three relaxation cocoons. The infinity pool appears to have merged with the lake. The Fontenay spa is also is equipped with an aroma-quartzite steam room, a Prestige Vichy Bed, a Finnish sauna (90°) with views of the city and surrounding, and ice fountain. There’s a private suite, which is a perfect place to relax and it is lavishly equipped with its own sauna, whirlpool, double day bed, steam room and TV lounge. The Fontenay has acquired La Mer as a cosmetics partner – a first on the German-speaking market.
The fitness area is fully equipped with state of the art cardiovascular and weight training equipment with a personal trainer on request.
Food & Drinks:
The Fontenay has two restaurants, Parkview and Lakeside, offering sumptuous dishes and overlooking the surrounding greenery and the lake. Executive chef Stefan Wilke is in charge of the Parkview restaurant, located on the ground level with an outdoor terrace. The Michelin star Chef, Cornelius Speinle takes care of Lakeside restaurant, which was awarded 16 points by Gault Millau. Some of the popular meals you can experiment include Königsberger Klopse (meatballs in a white sauce) and a chateaubriand, foie gras infused with banana, coffee, and tobacco at the smoking lounge. The Fontenay bar is located on the 6th floor and has a terrace featuring spectacular lake views. The bar has an assortment of wines and beers to complement your meals. The hotel also has an Atrium Lounge, as well as a library with a day bar and smoking lounge.
The Fontenay has a parking garage with three electric vehicle charging stations. It offers a limousine service for airport transfer.
