ISC resides on a leafy suburban neighbourhood called Pinneberg some 30 minutes’ drive northwest of central Hamburg. The school is surrounded by lush parks and well-equipped sporting facilities, ensuring your child will have ample opportunity to exercise and play.

Transferring from Hamburg Airport takes about 25 minutes by road.

Overview

ISC takes an innovative approach to education, striving to provide students with the emotional intelligence they need to overcome 21st-century challenges. Although core subjects–math, science, language, etc.–are well entrenched in the curriculum, the ISC tweaks its content and methodology to better prepare students for future success.

More than just able to remember facts, ISC alumni are capable problem-solvers and holistically competent young adults. Their students leave ready and able to confront the challenges of the digital age.

All programmes are taught in both English and German with a 50/50 split to ensure students will enter the workforce with a distinct bi-lingual advantage.

Academics:

Primary School: Grades 1 – 5

The ISC fosters an inclusive atmosphere in its primary school program, ensuring children from a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds can thrive. Social-emotional learning plays a vital role in the primary curriculum, providing young learners with the confidence and maturity they need to excel from an early age.

The Schleswig-Holstein curriculum takes influences from the Montessori Method and other pedagogical styles. A maximum class size of 22 students ensures ample student-teacher time.

Secondary School: Grades 6 – 10

The secondary school program bestows students with the confidence they need to excel in their future studies. Self-driven projects feed off the competencies obtained in the primary program, allowing students to prove their independence and perform at their best.

The rigorous Schleswig-Holstein curriculum includes influences from British and American educational programs. Students are ultimately trained to excel at the German Mittlerer Schulabschulss exam and ready themselves for the ISC International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

ISC IB Diploma Programme:

This prestigious pre-university qualification is being taught in 3,000 schools in 140 countries worldwide. The International Baccalaureate Programme is one of the few of its kind to be accepted by all leading European universities. The six-subject, two-year programme focuses on promoting analytical and written communication skills to prepare students for university life. Fieldwork, research, group projects, and classroom presentations are fundamental pillars of the curriculum. The IB Diploma Programme is taught in English.

Extra-curricular activities

The children have the opportunity to participate in several extra-curricular activities and clubs. Some of them are offered by the school and some by partners. The clubs encompass drama, arts, fashion design, music, debating an science. The sports students can partake in are fencing, swimming, tennis, golf, horseback riding, soccer, basketball, sailing and handball. If students wish to pursue their individual hobbies, ISC staff supports them and enables a participation. The city of Hamburg offers a wealth of sports and activities, so every hobby can be realized.
