Location
Situated just an hour and a half from the Swiss capital of Bern, and an hour and a half from Geneva, the Ultima Gstaad is strategically located only metres from the nearest chair lift, ensuring guests can be on the slopes within minutes of leaving their luxury compound.
The hotel is about 1 km from the Gstaad train station. The Gstaad airport is a 10-minute drive away.
Rooms & Suites
Throughout the complex, the spa hotel emulates the atmosphere of a charming Swiss chalet while still retaining all the amenities one would expect of a five-star hotel.
Each of the 11 one-to-two-bedroom suites features a homely bronze fireplace to ensure the solid wood structure remains snuggly and warm. Furnishings and fittings are courtesy of the most exclusive European designers, while fine upholstery such as wool and fur add a lavish touch. The marble clad en-suite features a bathtub big enough for two, which is perfect for the romantic weekend escape.
Larger groups and families would prefer any one of the six residences. Containing between two and four bedrooms, the largest can host up to 8 guests for a secluded ski holiday. A fully equipped designer kitchen and a delightfully decorated dining room and lounge serve as the central communal space.
Spa & Wellness
The 800m2 Ultima Gstaad Spa is the highlight for many, which dazzles even the most seasoned spa aficionado with its seductive black marble that contrasts against its shiny bronze fittings.
But it’s not all about looks, for the spa boasts a wide array of first-rate features. Soak in a bubbling Jacuzzi (either indoors or out), soothe those achy muscles in a steamy sauna and Turkish hammam, or book a session with the talented in-house masseuse. The latter incorporates the finest scented La Prairie oils in her routine to entrance guests into a state of blissful nirvana.
In terms of wellness, the onsite Ultima Clinic takes care of guests every beautification need. Several treatments using a variety of concoctions and techniques are on offer, although none gather as many rave reviews as the Radiofrequency massage. This specialist, non-invasive procedure uses hot rods to bolster circulation and make the skin feel more taunt in just one session.
Those after a little more exercise – as if skiing all day weren’t enough – can do a workout at the well-equipped gym or take a swim in the heated indoor pool.
Food & Drink
After working up an appetite at the slopes, guests can indulge in a delicious gourmet meal at the hotel’s exquisite restaurant, La Duchessa. The a la carte menu uses Italian recipes and fine locally sourced produce to tempt the palate, while a mouth-watering selection of hand-made desserts makes for a decadent end to the meal.
Guests can choose any number of creative concoctions made by the specially trained in-house mixologist. Of course, all the best beer and wine from the region are available as well.
Special Info
The Ultima Gstaad opens on the 13th of December, which corresponds with the official start of the ski season. Moreover, Ultima Gstaad is open during the summer season due to the many activities in Gstaad, a large demand for detox and wellness retreats, and of course for outdoor activities such as golf, hiking and biking.
