More
Founded in 1584, Uppingham has a long history of helping young people to excel. Located on an attractive campus in a rural county town that can be easily reached from London, the school offers an outstanding education to around 790 pupils.

Pupils at Uppingham are encouraged and expected to excel, and the school consistently delivers impressive exam results.

Young people are offered a challenging and varied curriculum, and have the choice of up to 28 A-Level subjects in Sixth Form.

While academic success is prized, the teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing the individual talents of each pupil and helping them make the most of the many opportunities on offer at the school.

The school achieved a 96.5% A-Level pass rate at grades A*-C in the 2012 exams, as well as a 99.1% GSCE pass rate at grades A*-C.

A large number of pupils proceed to higher education at prestigious institutions, including Oxbridge and Russell Group universities; they are supported through the application process by dedicated staff members.

Outside the classroom, pupils will find an extensive extra-curricular offer. The school is particularly renowned for its strength in music and performance, and all pupils are encouraged to be involved in concerts, choirs and instrumental ensembles.

Sport at Uppingham has been greatly enhanced by a new Sports Centre, and pupils have many opportunities to partake in a range of team and individual sports.

Uppingham is a full boarding school and pupils find that their boarding house quickly becomes a home away from home.

Each House provides accommodation for 50 – 60 pupils from across the year groups, a small number that allows a strong community feeling to be established.

Staff and pupils dine and live together, allowing for a high degree of pastoral care at the school.
