From February to March, Venice displays its most elegant costumes and masks and its streets and canals are filled with a magical atmosphere that is unique in the world.

If you are fortunate enough to be visiting during the carnival and want to take part in it, our favourite events promise to be unforgettable!

Ill Ballo del Doge

Celebrating its 21st edition, this is the most exclusive, artistic and cultural event of the carnival. You don’t have to take our word for it, but Vanity Fair considers it “the most sumptuous, refined and exclusive ball in the world.”

Celebrities and VIPs alike gather at the impressive Palazzo Pisani Moretta every year for a magical night where anything can happen.

This year’s theme is the art of the dream and promises to be an unforgettable one.

Moon Masquerade & Gran Carnival

This year the fabulous Luna Hotel Baglioni is organising 3 Carnival Parties in the exclusive Marco Polo Ballroom; an unparallel venue decorated with 18th century frescoes. The three events are so good that we have found it really hard to just pick one. That’s why we have picked two!

Accommodation is not requested to attend any of them and thanks to a superb arrangement with Atelier Flavia, attendants can rent or buy period costumes, masks and cloaks at the hotel.

The Feast of Gods

An impressive 16th century Grand Canal palace will be home to a banquet influenced by Bellini’s painting of the same name ‘The Feast of Gods’.

Bacchus, the god of wine and Mercury, the gods’ messenger, will play hosts during an evening where no expense has been spared. Torches will illuminate the entrance of the palace before guests are enveloped by a luxurious atmosphere. Jugglers, musicians and artists will accompany them and even trumpeters will announce dinner!

After a hearty feast, cocktails will be served and music will be played to dance the night away.

Gondola Serenade with dinner

This is the ideal event for couples or those wishing to stay away from big crowds.

After a 30 minute gondola ride through the canals exploring the charm of Venetia while musicians serenade them, guests will head to the Santa Maria del Giglio restaurant, a favourite amongst locals, located close to the beautiful Saint Mark’s square and the Academia Bridge.

In this romantic setting, they will enjoy mouth-watering traditional dishes such as Pasta & Fagioli. They can choose between a meat menu and a fish menu.

Crazy Mumbai Night

Hotel Metropole has created something different for those wishing to live the carnival in a more exotic way.

Attendants to this event will be immersed in the sensual rhythms of Bhangra and the vibrant Indian culture. The atmosphere promises to be exhilarating; full of colours, traditional music, lanterns and even elephants and peacocks!

A specifically designed Carnival buffet will be served featuring everything good about Indian cuisine.

Please note that costumes are required.
